Documents You Will Need to File Bankruptcy

Preparing for a bankruptcy is not that difficult so long as you understand what is needed. In order to make the filing process move smoothly, it's helpful to start accumulating the documents that you will need before you meet with your attorney.

The following are a list of some of those documents:

1) Driver's License, State ID Card or US Passport.
2) Social Security Card.

4) Pay Stubs for the last six (6) months.
5) Bank account statements for the last (6) months (checking and/or savings)
6) Information about your debts:

a) (Unsecured debt) Copies of any and all credit card statements, personal unsecured loan statements, medical bills, or collection bills.

i) If client is a co-debtor, we need the name and address of the primary debtor.
ii) If any cash advances have been taken on credit cards, we need to know when such advances occurred and for how much.

b) (Secured debt) Copies of car loan statements, mortgage loan statements or other secured loan statements.

c) (Special debt) Copies of any student loan statements or unpaid taxes.
